suggested that I submit this as a new deviation as opposed to updating the old one, and I figured it makes sense; so to all my watchers, sorry for flooding your message box ><
Originally planned as a tribute to Hakubaikou, [link]
but I've only just found a suitable reference for Kaoru's pose. The picture can also be taken in several context in relation to Tomoe..the flower in the river is ume as well as the pattern on Kaoru's kimono
Kenshin, Kaoru and Kenji were coloured separately then put together. Changed Kaoru's kimono and ribbon to be more appropriate for a married lady and the somber occasion.
The background was a nightmare..I wanted something that will go with the previous piece, there had to be a river..but most rivers or streams I had seen in Japan were rocky, fast flowing or had fortified banks...
this is the third background I worked on..the first looked like it came from China, the second out of Lord of the rings ..
there was also the problem of making sure the characters don't look like they're cardboard cut-outs pasted on the background..
so storybook illustration...*sigh*..but sooo not doing this anymore...but if I'm missing something just comment, in case I've got nothing else better to do
