Kenshin and Ikumatsu from Hakubaikou's fanfiction "Soul of a Hitokiri" over at [link] Also available at fanfiction.net

Sketched this about a year ago. Finally decided to paint it, which took about a month between work and family.

Not entirely happy with the composition. I was going for a softer look and minimal detail, as I wanted to focus on Kenshin's expression, but couldn't go back after I got carried away doing Ikumatsu's hair.

I'm sure there're a lot of cultural inaccuracies here - I notice that obi's tend to be very elaborate in texture and pattern; and I'm don't think Ikumatsu would be wearing make-up (neck) when she's meeting Kenshin, but couldn't resist it.

The title is obvious I think, as that was Ikumatsu's message.

Redid the background - not sure if it is taking away the focus from the central figures; comments please.. :)

I love this. Thank you for posting this. It's so nice being able to see an actual painting of that moment. It's quite close to what I'd always pictured in my head.
